The Year 12 Perspectives exhibition is now in its 24th year of celebrating the creative talents of local students at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
Associate Curator of Projects at AGWA Dunja Rmandic says those on the panel who chose this year’s entries were looking for originality of ideas and technical prowess.
“It wasn’t just that something was really well drawn or painted, it was the potential of the student as well to show progress.”
Rmandic and her colleagues on the panel went over 300 pieces and had to pare it down to 58 works.
“I was really surprised by the quality of the work… the standard at that level is very specific,” she said, “The standard was much, much better than I’d anticipated.”
The works employ a range of media, including illustration, painting, photography, textiles and more.
Year 12 Perspectives will be at the Art Gallery of Western Australia from March 12th – June 13th.
