What Does Living Proud Mean To You?

For me, Living Proud means that…

•             I have genuine connections with people around me

•             I feel a sense of belonging to a community of people who understand me

•             I am encouraged and supported to be healthy & happy

•             If I need help, I know where to get it, and can feel safe in places that provide support and medical care

•             My identity – my queer identity – is  validated by others around me

•             I can be open about all aspects of  myself without fear of discrimination

•             I am able to talk openly about issues that affect me, and

•             I am able to fight for my rights and advocate for others in my community

From my point of view, as a queer person having experienced mental illness, being able to express myself through the arts is also a key element of Living Proud.

As well as being part of our local LGBTI community, Lex Randolph is a Project Coordinator at DADAA, and will be working with GLCS to deliver the Arts Initiatives component of the Living Proud Project. Lex is passionate about the arts as an agent for social change and promoting positive mental health.
