Olivia Nabulwala, an Ugandan lesbian woman seeking asylum in America, won an appeal last week to retry her case. Nabulwala was subject to beatings by her family as well as rape after coming out to them. Though the first court to hear her case ruled that the persecution was a family matter and not authorized by the government, the appeals court has sent the case back for a new hearing.
