‘Switch Lanes’ sees Maidza give off a slightly more calypso vibe than her previous singles, the bombastic dance numbers ‘Brontosaurus’ and ‘Uh-Huh’.

The single is part of her debut EP ‘Switch Tape’, released only last week. For the video, Maidza worked with Japanese born, New York based animator Sachio Cook, who is known for his work with Adult Swim.

In the video, a cartoon Maidza is transported from her greyscale world into a magical parallel universe after a run in with an anthropomorphic shrimp and his cloud buddy. There, she rides flying dolphins, visits tropical donuts and drops fierce rap verses while she’s there.
