Comedian Tig Notaro has postponed her Australian tour dates after being hospitalized last week.
Notaro, whose recent show ‘Live’ was widely acclaimed for her brutal honesty on topics including Notaro’s battle with breast cancer, loss of a family member and relationship breakdown, all of which occurred within months of each other.
Notaro was scheduled to perform her show ‘Boyish Girl Interrupted’ at Perth’s Regal Theatre on December 6th. She was also due to perform in Melbourne on the 9th and Sydney on the 12th.
Last week, Notaro was unexpectedly hospitalized and was forced to cancel that weekend’s performances. Her management has since announced that her Australian tour dates will be rescheduled in accordance with her recovery.
“I’m very slowly on the mend from an emergency surgery performed last week. Unfortunately, my doctor says I won’t be completely healed for another 3-5 weeks.” Notaro said in a statement.
“Australia has become one of my favourite places to tour and I am SO looking forward to rescheduling when I’m feeling better. I appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience.”
Notaro is currently working with Melbourne Comedy Festival to reschedule dates for 2015. Those who have purchased tickets to Notaro’s postponed performances can keep hold of their tickets until a new date is announced or obtain a full refund.
