“The Cat Café’s started in Tokyo and then Paris and New York and one recently opened in Melbourne. We went and visited that one and thought if this phenomenon is coming to Australia then we want to open the first one in Perth.” Chris Mewburn told OUTinPerth.

The concept is a simple one at the front of the venue is a standard café where you can have a coffee and cake relax while looking through a big glass screen to a cluster* of cats. But for an extra fee you can spend an hour hanging out with the cats.

*Random Trivia: Acceptable collective nouns for cats include clowder, cluster, clutter, pounce and glaring.
