The Buzz… June

Busy busy busy… June is all about the buzz of being busy as an array of international, national and local acts flutter into town. A hip to the hop with soul sister to the stars, Ms Mary J Blige at The Burswood Dome on June 10. A few days later, on June 15, R&B boys of yore, Boyz II Men, play at Metro City.

On the national scene, Modular are sending some of their Aussie heavy weights our way. Those boys in ‘ghost colours’, Cut Copy, hit Capitol not once but twice as they play up a storm on both June 13 and 14. Not to be outdone, leery larrikins The Presets weigh in with a two night wonder on June 18 and 19.

Living it up loud and local and our own gorgeous electro scene does its thang this month as the ever precocious Mr Tomás Ford hits The Bakery on June 14. It will be an outrageously huge evening well worth checking out, particularly since at some point he’ll be sharing the stage with The Voltaire Twins, another lovely electro duo who will also be performing on June 21 at Capitol with Dukes of Windsor. But if you wanna get a little c*nt struck then opt instead for loud ladies of rock, Sex Panther, who whip it all out at The Norfolk in Fremantle on June 21.

On June 13 – Friday, the 13th – things get down right creepy with a ‘killer lineup’ at RTRFM’s Fremantle Winter Music Festival. Get to Fly By Night and the Norfolk Basement… if you dare.

After such a heavy onslaught of sound, let your dreadlocks down with Angus and Julia Stone as they hum and strum up some pleasant folk rock at The Octagon Theatre at University of Western Australia on June 28 and 29. Awwww, look at all the pretty bees…!
