The documentary series sees Fry journey through Mexico and Central America until he reaches the Panamanian border with South America.

His journey takes him through some of the oldest cilvilisations on the planet including Mayan, Aztec and Olmec sites.

Fry’s aim with the series is to expand our understanding of Central America beyond the current touch points of student gap year trips, beaches, volcanoes and hazy notions of drug cartels, banana republics and forgotten civil wars.

Fry heads of on a road trip to discover the people, places, wildlife and history of the region. The reason he travels by old school bus is because that’s where old American school buses go after their retired from service, they get a second life traveling on the tough roads of Central America.

The first episode sees Fry in Mexico, he stops in Chihuahua and catches a train through the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains to visit the magnificence of Copper Canyon, which is bigger than the Grand Canyon.

In the mining town of Real de Catorce he joins a festival celebrating revolutionary Pancho Villa, he then gets a non-speaking role in a Mexican soap opera, before visiting a Shaman who ingests the drug peyote.

Fry’s trip around Australia will bring him to Perth’s Riverside Theatre on Tuesday November 17th and 18th. Set your IQ to record the series from November 17th.
