Soul singer PP Arnold has locked in a show at The Astor Theatre

Soul singer PP Arnold has locked in a show at Perth’s Astor Theatre this November. The singer has had a long career that has seen her contribute vocals to soul hits in the 60’s through to acid house floor-fillers in the late 80’s and collaborations with Culture Club.

Arnold will be paying a string of shows around the country before concluding her tour in Perth on 17th December. The singer played some shows on the east-coast earlier this year and got rave reviews.

Recently the singer released The Turning Tide a collection of tracks she recorded in the 1970’s which never go a release. The album features collaborations with some musical giants including Bee Gee Barry Gibb and guitar legend Eric Clapton.

Arnold’s career has seen her collaborate with a wide array of musicians as well as having her own solo hits. She was a member of Ike and Tina Turner’s backing singers in the 1960’s before deciding to stay on in London during the swinging sixties.

She scored huge hits The First Cut is the Deepest, which was written by Cat Stevens. He would later record his own version of the song. She also topped the charts with her rendition of Angel of the Morning.

Her career has seen her work with The Small Faces, Eric Burdon, Nick Drake and many others. In the 9180’s she provided vocals on The Kane Gang’s Respect Yourself and worked with Culture Club on the soundtrack to the film Electric Dreams. Her voice is prominent on Peter Gabriel’s hit Sledgehammer and she was part of the original cast of the musical Starlight Express. 

At the end of the decade PP Arnold’s voice could be heard on huge dance floor hits including The Beatmasters Burn It Up and the KLF’s What Time Is Love?
