Same-Sex Custody Case

Earlier this month a Pennsylvania Supreme Court judge upheld a previous ruling that allowed a woman to keep primary physical custody of the twin sons she had with her former lesbian partner ‘ even though the ex-partner is the birth mother.

According to reports the previous ruling was based on the birth mother’s psychological state, and on the fact that she had tried to keep the other mother from seeing the boys in the past.

Ellen Boring and Patricia Jones were in a relationship for 13 years and had the twin boys via an anonymous sperm donor in 1996. After they separated the birth mother, Boring, married a man, directed the children to call him Dad and furthermore refused to observe a previous ruling that determined Ms Jones’ visitation schedule.

Associated Press reported that Boring had ”tried in every way possible to sabotage Jones’ relationship with the children.â?
