Australian Rugby League may have declared their support for marriage equality, same-sex couples and rainbow families, but one of the game’s biggest stars has declared his opposition.
The Wallabies superstar player Israel Folau has declared he’s not in favour of same-sex couples being allowed to wed.
“I love and respect all people for who they are and their opinions. but personally, I will not support gay marriage.” posted to his Twitter account.
Fans of sportsman tweeted him back with a range of responses, many of them disappointed that he was making a public stance against marriage equality.
The rugby player has previously spoken about his religious beliefs, he was formerly a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints and later joined the Assemblies of God Pentecostal church group.
I love and respect all people for who they are and their opinions. but personally, I will not support gay marriage.✌❤🙏

M8 if you want a group of people to have less rights than you, you neither love nor respect them. At least be honest about your belief.

Then don’t get gay married! Your opinion should not stop people living their own lives.

Unfortunately, Izzy the supporters of SSM don’t respect your right to have an alternative opinion on this issue. I respect your beliefs.
