RinoceroseOstensibly released to mark the duo’s ten years of activity, much of this slightly tenuous self-titled ‘greatest hits’ comes across as being triggered more by the selection of new track Cubicle as the theme for the latest iPod ad. Infadels-voiced Cubicle most closely resembles a mutant crossbreed of B.A.D. II and Daft Punk, or if you’re being uncharitable, Soulwax on a bit of an off day. The guitar elements frequently sit awkwardly and come across as gratuitous token additions to an otherwise generic and often dated collection of house tracks. While some of the earlier, rougher moments taken from albums such as Installations Sonore still manage to elicit the odd thrill from the listener, this comes across as music more designed for the sound track to the cable lifestyle channel.
