Putin Says Anti-Gay Laws Are To Prevent Europeans Dying Out

Vladimir PutinRussian President Vladamir Putin has declared that Russia’s controversial anti-propaganda laws are to protect Europeans from dying out. In an discussion at the Valdai Club’s 10th Annual Summit, where two hundred politicians, journalists and experts gathered to discuss Russia, the country’s leader said that it was important that Russians had more children so they did not die out.

“Europeans are dying out. Don’t you understand that? And same-sex marriages don’t produce children. Do you want to survive by drawing migrants? But society cannot adapt so many migrants. Your choice in many countries is the way it is: recognition of same-sex marriage, adoption, etc. But let us make our own choice the way we see it for our country,” said Mr Putin.

President Putin also highlighted that many American states have strict laws about homosexuality but they did not receive the same amount of negative attention as the laws in Russia.

The President also joked that if Italian President Silvio Berlusconi has been caught having sex with an underage boy instead of a girl that he would not have been prosecuted.

“Berlusconi faces trial for bedding women. If he was gay, no one would ever lay a finger on him,” the President is reported to have said.
