The decision means that homosexual refugees coming to Australia to flee persecution in their home country due to their sexuality, will now be sent to a country where being gay is illegal.

The protest in the Murray Street mall drew around 300 participants who marched around the city’s malls chanting, “Refugees are welcome here”.

A protest for marriage equality is planned for next Saturday beginning in Stirling Gardens at 1pm.
