Perth residents have reported receiving flyers from the Coalition for Marriage, the official ‘no’ campaign in the marriage equality debate, that lack any official attribution.
Flyers have been received in Bayswater, in the city’s eastern suburbs, and in the southern area of Gosnells. The campaign advertisement claims marriage equality will have an effect on schools, forcing parents to accept “radical gay sex education”.
The advertisement also mentions potential effects on free speech and impacts on religious freedom. While the flyers promote the web address of the Coalition for Marriage, and feature the organisation’s logo, they do not have an official authorisation tag.
The government rushed to introduce additional safeguards to accompany the marriage postal survey process, and they have been in effect since 14 September.
The Coalition for Marriage were contacted by OUTinPerth but did not respond to our query.
