OUTspoken at the Perth Poetry Festival

Jesse Slam OliverThe 2015 Perth Poetry Festival is on this weekend including artists from around Australia and South East Asia.

The four day festival at the Northbridge Piazza Community Centre will feature poetry slams, workshops, readings and discussion circles.

This year marks the first year that OUTspoken, a queer Perth performance poetry group, will be attending the festival. The group began in 2013 to give members of the community a space to freely express themselves.

OUTspoken is on tonight at The Sparrow’s Nest on Albany Highway in Victoria Park from 7:30pm. Tickets are available at the door, or you can email OUTspoken at outspokenperth@gmail.com

Jesse Slam Oliver performed his poem at OUTspoken last year. Tomorrow he’s taking part in the WA heat of the Australian Poetry Slam. Head down to the Rosemount Hotel from 5pm and show him some support.
