Sneaky Sound System play Big Day Out at Claremont Showgrounds on February 1
Getting on the bill? We have played at Big Day Out before, but we played a thing called the Lily Pond which only holds a maximum of 2000 people. That was two years ago, and they had to shut it down because it got too crazy, too many people wanted to come to see us. They were literally ripping down the fences, and they had to shut down the music in two cities for like 45 minutes to chill everybody the fuck out. This year they have chucked us on the mainstage which is going to be unreal.
Other BDO acts you want to see? We like to hang out a bit earlier and stay a bit longer than most… Franz Ferdinand, I’ve seen them before live and they are frickin’ amazing.
Favourite festival? We played at Glastonbury which was totally off the wall. It is unlike any other festival ever or will ever go to because it is just hundreds of thousands of people and there are so many acts and the vibe is crazy madness. We didn’t get to stay around there the whole time, but it was just one of those messy, manic festivals, but the weather is not right for me. I like the Australian summertime festivals, where people can wear thongs and shorts not gumboots and jumpers. Good Vibrations for us has always been amazing when we play in Sydney because it is our hometown and everyone sings along so loud that they sing louder than the PA. It is always a real goosebump kind of moment. We are solar-powered Sneaky Sound System.
3 things every punter needs? A hot girl, a spare pair of thongs and a shitload of money.
Dream festival? I would get Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Prince – that would be my headline act. I’ll call it 80s without fluoro, and we would be jamming with each act.
