Getting on the bill? It’s been a love affair from the start. The owner of Mundaring invited me to perform during the first tour after Gypsy was born. I had a gang of young players all of whom were a little experimental and loose and I was enjoying having no pressure to perform hits only. We all went berserk and a precedent was set… This would be the place that we could officially let it all out, and the audience lets us. A rare and special place, attracting a rare and unique type of audience.

Best summer concert story? Swimming in the pool in front of the stage just before the audience arrived. It was like the calm before the storm. My gay friend from New York was there, an old love (he looks like Adonis…breathtaking), and we frolicked in the pool together – very Will and Grace!

Favourite festival or concert series? Mundaring… of course!

3 things every punter should bring? Dancing shoes, a good bottle of something special and good humour.

Dream festival? All the great Aussie female singers from all around the country from Elana Stone to Missy Higgins, Renee Geyer and Wendy, Opera to pop, indie to rock… and prove that everyone is entitled to be as unique as each other, and never the twain shall meet! (Meaning to hell with anyone who wish these women to be anything other than themselves). No Pink, No Nora, No Christina, just some great Aussie chicks!

Why do you have such a strong gay following? Because they understand Art and its influence on the senses. I feel safe in the company of people who are in touch with their passion and who are inspired by life around them. I see everyone as spiritual and aesthetic… after all our skin is simply what we wear, it is not who we are.
