OUT @ The Festivals: End of Fashion

End of Fashion play Southbound in Busselton on Jan. 2-3.

Getting on the bill? We did it a few years ago and had a hell of a time, so why not?

Other Southbound acts you want to see? Tegan and Sara, Franz Ferdinand, The Hives.

Best festival story? Southbound was like a commune kind of thing. Dallas Crane was playing that year and the Dandy Warhols and we all went back to each others rooms and drank the rest of our riders and talked all night. When bands have that vibe where they get along – and it is not just people hiding in their dressing rooms – that is the sign of a good festival.

Favourite festival? Big Day Out just because of growing up with it. Outside of Australia, definitely South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, just because of the sheer gigantic nature of it all. I think everyone once in their lives should go to South By Southwest and check it out. It would be like seeing the Pyramids – it is that monumental. It is a place half the size of Perth and from 12 o’clock in the day to 2 o’clock in the morning every venue, every lunch bar, every pub, every clothing bar has a stage in it and people are playing music.

3 Things every punter needs? A big floppy hat, no matter how dorky you look, who at the end of the day is going to pick up with a bright red shiny melon… And plans… and respect for everybody else around you.

Dream Festival? I’d just try to get as many different bands and different sounds and styles all over the place. Just throw it all in and have it going nuts… I’d like to hear Jill Scott play in the same tent as the Strokes.

Hallelujah! Summer is here… and with it, the sun, the sand and most of all the endless sweet, sweet music of the festival season.
