November is Pride month and there’s so many events this year

November is Pride Month in Perth, and it’s also a month to give special recognition to the transgender community with Transgender Day of Remembrance coming up in a few weeks time. 

The annual PrideFEST is officially held between Friday 15th and Sunday 24th November with stacks of events, but there’s so many additional events that spill out into the early part of the month too.

Here’s some of the big events on this year’s program.

The Old Favourites

If you’ve just got time to check in to some of the bigger events, here’s the five key celebrations on the annual Pride calendar.

The Opening Party 
Friday 15th November 2024 from 5pm

Head down to the Northbridge Piazza for the official opening of PrideFEST 2024. There’ll be speeches and entertainment, but it’s known for being not your average speech-filled event, we’ve seen Lord Mayor’s be blessed with glitter and MPs show off their dancing skills on stage.

Pride Run & Walk 
Saturday 16th November 9am – 12pm 

The Perth Frontrunners are one of the biggest and most active community groups in town and this annual event has really grown in the last few years. Hundreds of people are expected to turn up for this Saturday morning run and walk that begins and ends in Elizabeth Quay. It’s a mountain of fun and a great way to start a Saturday morning.

Fairday
Sunday 17th November 10am – 6pm 

This gathering of community groups is filled with entertainment, food and catching up with old friends and making heaps of new ones.

Check out the drag performances and the legendary dog show, visit stalls from hundreds of community groups, bring a picnic or grab some food from a food truck.   

This year it’s taking place in Supreme Court Gardens, which has been dubbed the Pride Gardens for the duration of the festival.

Crown Perth Pride Luncheon
Friday 22nd November from 12pm – 4.30pm

The business world comes together to hear keynote speakers share important life experiences, as well as enjoy a tasty lunch. Joel Creasey is hosting, Reuben Kaye is performing, Khanh Ong will be curating the meal and Narelda Jacobs will be speaking.

The Parade
Saturday 23rd November from 6pm 

The annual parade of colourful and vibrant floats will work its way through the streets of Northbridge. Community groups and supportive businesses will show their solidarity with the LGBTIQA+ communities. 

Afterwards there’s a stack of parties to take you into the small hours, from the official family friendly party in Russell Square, through to the the gigantic street party at The Court Hotel, the action packed celebrations at Connections, Rave Relief at The Rechabite and many others.

The New Kids on the Block

There’s some new events on the program this year which look like they are going to be huge! 

PrideFEST Live
Friday 22nd November at The Ice Cream Factory

It’s a massive concert with PNAU, Vera Blue, Cub Sport and Montaigne on the bill.

The Rechabite turns into the Pride Palace 
15th – 30th November

The Rechabite in Northbridge will be a hot spot of activities over the PrideFEST. They’ll be hosting lots of events including Bar Kylie, The Red Rave, Ephemera, Burly Jam, and the gigantic Closing Party. While the downstairs bar will transform in a new venue -Dyke Bar.

Red Rave
Saturday 16th November from 8pm 

The dance party at The Rechabite will raise funds for WAAC and celebrate sex positivity. This night will be filled with electrifying beats and a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can express their true selves.

Art Ball x Pride
Saturday 9th November 

The Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) launches its first Met Gala-style ball happening across all floors of the Gallery for one incredible night! Dress to excess.
