The Nigerian parliament has passed an anti-gay bill that criminalises same-sex marriage. The new legislation now means a potential 14 year prison sentence for anyone that illegally marries someone of the same sex.
The House of Representatives passed the Bill unanimously; with Senate President David Mark stating that homosexuality was foreign to Nigerian culture.
The country is also cracking down on homosexuality in general, with plans to criminalise public displays of affection between same-sex couples.
