Lost In The ’80s
Rediscover the campest tunes of the 1980’s by seeking these tunes out in your nearest secondhand record vault.

Boy George’s friend Marilyn hit it big briefly in ’83 with Calling Your Name, he wore lots of sequins and liked showing off his midriff. Marilyn also features on the Band Aid hit Do They Know It’s Christmas.

In ’85 Baltimora sang about finding Tarzan boy, the video clip is particularly camp. Sadly, or maybe gladly, this was their only hit. Lead singer Jimmy McShane passed away from an AIDS related illness in 1993.

Freddie Mercury’s first solo single I Was Born to Love You is a giant high energy disco romp that makes you want to stand under a glitter ball. After Freddie’s death Queen would re-record the song for his posthumous final band album.

Following in Divine’s footsteps drag queen Lanah Pellay released Pistol in My Pocket in ’86 in it she sings about her pistol pointing at you. Seek out the video for this one and spot club legend Leigh Bowery in the background.
