Your new single ‘Cedoption’ is part of your AERIALS project- how different is the creative process when you making sounds for vision?

Yes it’s been fun creating something which is tied to visuals, as we kind of see with sounds anyway. Though it’s important to find that balance where the music can also stand on its own. While we’ve been making music we’ve also been shooting and creating imagery which ties into those ideas.

You’ve stopped remixing other artists – do you think you’ll return to remixing in the future?

Maybe we’ll remix again in the future. It’s great playing with other peoples sounds and creating new interpretations, particularly if you have the chance to get weird in that department. Though we got tied up in other areas and took a little break, but if the right thing came up i’m sure we’ll dive in again.

You guys seem to be constantly travelling – is there anywhere you haven’t been yet, that you’d like to tour?

Yeah we’ve always had the travel bug so that ties into the touring thing. We enjoy taking on projects which give us new experiences in new corners of the world.

I’m in Tokyo right now, and Daniel is in Jamaica for the next month. When we’re widely touring, we’ll only do it if there’s the opportunity to go somewhere we haven’t been before, or somewhere a little off the map. It’s most fun playing places like Turkey or Colombia. We played Russia last month, but it was mainly also to have the opportunity to go looking through their museums on holiday.

What’s been the craziest moment of touring with Perth’s Tame Impala?

They’re a great band. I had a week off and so spent it in Fremantle before the last show at Belvoir Ampitheatre. Joe from Pond has a room full of gear so we went there and had a fun jam. A lot of interesting people in that scene.

What releases do you have planned for the future – is a new album in the works?

We have a few one off releases which we’re putting out later this year, though they could be a little bizarre. We like to have fun with it all and put out stuff when we feel, plus playing with pushing themes further. Sometimes it’s difficult for band members to get together as we’re based in different locations.

Dan lives in New York and Andy has been busy with different music stuff too. Though we converged around the last VIVID festival for a gig and started recording a few things, so will release some sounds soon.

What kind  of show will you be delivering at the CoLAB festival?

I think it’s starting to warm up again so we’ll probably do something more energetic and electric. Dancefloor vibes. Will be fun to get back to W.A. and revisit the Indian ocean.

Midnight Juggernauts are appearing at the CoLAB Festival on  November 29th. OUTinPerth has a double pass up for grabs on our giveaways page.
