M.A.C. on M.A.C.

StyleAID promises to be bigger and better than ever before. So much so that when it rolls out people will have the theme word rolling off their tongues in one big audible gasp of… WOW.

But it’s the details that make an event like this, and nowhere more does the fine nuance of StyleAID come together than in the make-up. And we’re not talking about any old make-up… we’re talk about the best. Yes, you’ve guessed it: we’re talking M.A.C..

‘The theme this year is WOW – White On White,’ explained Carol Mackie from M.A.C.. ‘We haven’t designed all the looks yet but it will be quite monochromatic. I know that there are five different groups so we’ve got five looks.

‘We design a look for the show now instead of the individual designer, and with the white on white theme there will be various different looks using different shades of black, white and grey. We group designers together that we can have one particular look for. So, for instance, with one of the looks we’ve gone with something more kind of grungy.’

M.A.C. are also known globally for raising phenomenal amounts of money for research into the treatment of HIV and AIDS. Part of their product range includes Viva Glam, a range of lipsticks and lip glosses from which every cent goes toward AIDS research. Last year alone M.A.C. donated $24 000 raised from Viva Glam products to WAAC.

‘The M.A.C AIDS Fund (MAF) is the heart and soul of M.A.C cosmetics,’ explained Julie Otter, Brand General Manager for M.A.C. Cosmetics. ‘As the largest corporate non-pharmaceutical giver in the arena, MAF is committed to addressing the link between poverty and HIV/AIDS by supporting diverse organizations, like the WA AIDS Council, that provide a wide range of services to people living with HIV/AIDS.’

To add to the night, M.A.C. will also have their Touch Up Booth on hand. This means that if you’ve left the house and haven’t had time to finish your look, or the rush of getting ready has left you streaking – do not despair. Simply sidle up to the Booth and have your make-up fixed by some of the best make-up artists in the state, who will be using primarily Viva Glam products… the whole experience costing you nothing.

‘It’s the event of the year for me,’ Mackie concluded. ‘It’s really rewarding because I’ve been with the StyleAID team now for… oh, this will be the ninth year. It’s really special. I’m really close to Aly and Mark and the people who work on StyleAID. Every year it’s more exciting and rewarding.’

StyleAID takes place at Burswood on Friday July 31. All tickets have officially sold out to this event.
