In December NASA deliberately removed two used spacecraft from orbit in December by crashing them into the moon.
The crater they created has been named after the first woman in space, Sally Ride.
The Sally K Ride Impact Site is on a 1.5 km high mountain near the moon’s northpole.
Ride who served on two space missions onboard the Challenger shuttle was the first Amercian woman to go into space, and remains the youngest Amercian astronaut.
Ride died last year from pancreatic cancer and is survived by her life partner Tam O’Shaughnessy.
