ASIA PACIFIC OUTGAMES 2008
On June 22nd at The Court Hotel Peter Sagar, Co-President of Melbourne Outgames Inc, met with individuals and groups interested in competing in the Outgames in January and February of 2008. The games will include 12 sports: badminton, dancesport, field hockey, lawn bowls, rowing, run and walk, squash, swimming, ten pin bowling, tennis, volleyball and water polo. Registration for events will open in August. For more information, sign up for the Outgames newsletter at www.melbourneoutgames.org.
BADMINTON
So many new players are coming each week that it is now necessary for the Recreation Centre to draw up four more courts for G&L Badminton to use every Wednesday night! These will be ready by the end of July, so until then games are limited to 10 points each to make rotation quicker.
The rapid improvement of many players has led us to conduct a second badminton session on Saturday mornings, called Drills and Skills. This semi-coaching session focuses on individual player’s shot-making, including drops, smashes, clears and backhands.
Several players attended Melbourne Outgames meeting at The Court late last month. So far, four badminton players have expressed interest in representing Perth in this sport. Following the presentation, other players then joined in for a night of socialising in the Garden Bar.

FOOTY TIPPING
With both the sports editor and web programmer bottom of the ladder, OUTinPerth’s tips have been as consistently off the mark as the Fremantle Dockers. Fortunately, OiP’s readers have fared better than the staff, with ashleyelder80 and Mattperth at top of the leaderboard. However, only 9 points separate the leader and bottom of the ladder, so watch out tipsters! In addition to special prizes, the winner of the footy tipping competition will be able to donate money to a charity of their choice. No idea what we’re talking about?
SWIMMING
Instead of recovering from another Saturday night, why not dust off those budgie smugglers on Sunday morn and hit the Wesley Sports Club at Wesley College in South Perth (off Angelo St) for a swim and coffee. The group meets at 9am for a 30-40min swim. Entry to the pool is $3.30. Contact Alain Ludva 04 4156 1488 for more information.
