WA Crowns Mr Leather
Owner of Mt Lawley patisserie Scents of Taste, Franck Gire took out last month’s first ever Mr Leather competition in WA. He has won a finals place at the Mr Leather Australia and New Zealand competition in Melbourne. The competition was made up of interviews and three different rounds on the night judging their initial impact, costumes, physique and a two-minute speech. Gire will now fly over to Melbourne in April next year for the national competition.

Barnett Denies Discrimination
Last month, Western Australian Premier Colin Barnett questioned why the gay community wanted same-sex marriage. Barnett told audiences on 92.9FM on Thursday November 17 that he didn’t have a problem with civil or legal agreements. ‘I don’t think I’m old fashioned… I have a view that marriage is between a man and a woman,’ Barnett said. He went on to state, ‘I think discrimination has disappeared. It was there, and there was terrible discrimination in the past’.
