Lesbian Couples Part Of Perth's Biggest Wedding

This morning radio station 92.9’s ‘Perth’s Biggest Wedding’ took place down at Mosman Park, fifty couples came together to tie the knot, including three lesbian couples.

Although unable to get married, the six women were all smiles as they swapped rings in a commitment ceremony. All fifty couples stood across the Mosman Restaurant jetty and married in unison by a registered celebrant.

The event went live to air this morning, with 92.9 presenters Lisa, Paul and Baz providing running commentary throughout. The event kicked off officially at 8am, when the brides arrived via bus with Lisa.

Lesbian couple Tam and Krystal were excited to be taking part, but swore to get married officially once it was legal ‘what’s going on in Tasmania at the moment is amazing, it’ll be exciting to see an Australian state with legalised gay marriage, we’re just waiting for Gillard to pull her finger out’.

After a year and a half together, Jessie and Lisa heard about the event on the radio and jumped on it ‘we just thought it would be great, one big wedding’. The couple stood proudly at the front of the line as they prepared for the big moment.

The inclusive live-to-air ceremony was followed up with celebratory food and drinks.
