We’re always interested in anything that theatrical practitioner James Berlyn is doing. Last year he was declared the coolest thing beginning with the letter J in OUTinPerth’s A-Z of Cool Perth.
Now Berlyn has made a call out for people to help him with his latest work.
‘Split Second’ will see Berlyn team up with high school students to investigate the devastating effects of road trauma on young adults.
Berlyn is seeking stories from young Western Australians, aged 15 – 20 years, willing to share their experiences of road trauma and the impact it has had on their lives and those around them.
“The lives of young people can be profoundly affected by road trauma through physical injuries, psychological strain, even just knowing someone who has been involved in a road accident can be traumatic.” Berlyn said.
“We want to shine a light on those stories; those moments where a decision is made that has a life-long impact.”
The stories collected will form the basis for a new workshop series for young people that will be be created by students at Mount Lawley High School. ‘Split Second’ will encourage students to reconsider their relationship with road safety through art-based experiential workshops.
If you would like to submit a story to the project drop James Berlyn an email. Submissions are open until August 17, 2015.Â
