Israel has reschedule their upcoming election because the date clashes with a Britney Spears concert.
The poll was scheduled for July 3rd, but it’s had to be pushed back a day due to accommodate Britney’s tour.
“We delayed the vote one day, to July 4. We couldn’t hire enough security for the election because of the Britney Spears concert on July 3. There would also be a lot of traffic and roadblocks that would make it hard for the vote to go ahead,” Labor Party spokesman Liron Zach said.
The primary election will decide who become the chair of Israel’s Labor party, the winner of the poll will then be in the running to become the country’s Prime Minister.
The party’s concern wasn’t that all their supporters were massive Britney fans, but that their location for voting to take place was across the road from the venue Britney’s playing. The concert is expected to cause traffic problems and parking challenges.
Britney is touring Japan and The Philippines in June before heading to Tel Aviv in July. Later in the year she returns to her Las Vegas residency with shows announced for August and September.
Fans have been hoping that the gap between her shows in The Philippines and her appointment in Israel might be when some Australian shows might happen. Fans in New Zealand are also hoping that Britney might make her first ever trip to their shores.
