Fait Accompli Ready to Rock Perth

Sydney soul punk band Fait Accompli dropped by the OUTinPerth office as they prepare for a bunch of gigs around the state this weekend.

WA’s queer community is very familiar with the band’s drummer Ms Skarlett aka Skarlett Saramore, who makes regular appearances at The Court Hotel.   This trip she’s here with band mates Mr Ray and Mr Brad.

The trio played YaYa’s last night, tonight they’re playing with The Disappointed and Boys Boys Boys! at Amplifier tonight before heading to Albany on Saturday. The band will be back to play a headline show at The Newport on Sunday.

The band are excited to be back in town and teaming up with one of Perth’s hottest local bands The Disappointed.

“They’re amazing!” Saramore said, “We’re so honoured because when we came over here to do our EP release, they were beautiful and opened for us, and now we’ve done a swap around we’re supporting them.”

Saramore notes that Perth’s music scene is distinctly different saying it’s much friendlier. “In Sydney bands just want that spot in the limelight they want attention, we’ve noticed here the bands are more likely to just be in it for the music and everyone supports everyone.”

Up next for the band is their debut album and a their first overseas tour.

“We’ve got most of it done,” said Mr Brad, “the single will be out soon, it called ‘End of the World.”

“It’s not about the end of the world,” explains Saramore, “it’s not a  miserable horrible life’s over song, it basically the opposite of the that. It’s about how the world’s changing as well know it, basically the evolution of how things are from government, to live, to love.”

The band explained the evolution of the band which is lead by Mr Ray, who was originally the band’s drummer. Two years ago when Saramore came on board he moved over to guitars and vocals. “He’s transitioned into a freak guitarist!” Saramore said.

At the end of the visit each member of the band headed off with a plastic animal from OUTinPerth’s collection.

Catch the band at Amplifier tonight and The Newport in Fremantle on Sunday.
