Punk band Hunx and his Punx are heading to the Rosemount Hotel this month with fellow retro oddies Shannon and the Clams in tow.
Seth Bogart, who takes on the role of Hunx, the lead singer of the group is excited about returning to Perth after the group made their first trip to Perth in 2013.
“I loved being there last year, we had such a great time, I loved the beach!’ Bogart said.
The singer explains that Hunx and his Punx formed after he started dating a songwriter.
“I was in the other band and then I started dating this dude, and he had written all these songs which were for a teenage girl band. Everyone thought he was a weirdo, but I convinced him to let me record them,” said Bogart.
Since releasing their first record in 2010, the band has released an album every year. Bogart is proud of their productivity but says this part of the bands punk ethos explaining that each album had been recorded in less than a week. The bands most recent offering is ‘Street Punk’.
“Its super punk, super fast, super short, super funny, super camp and super sexy!” proclaims Bogart, “We made it really fast, it’s actually my favourite Hunx album.”
Bogart said that each time the band performs live it’s a different experience.
“It really depends, it depends on whether I get possessed or not, it depends on whether I’m drunk, it depends on if the audience is boring. There are so many factors.”
Bogart also shares that each member of the band now lives in a different city. When we asked if that made rehearsing difficult, Bogart laughed and responded in true punk style, “We don’t really rehearse, we just go on stage and hope for the best!”
Hunx and His Punk are playing at the Rosemount Hotel, alongside Shannon and the Clams, on Thursday April 24, Anzac Day Eve.
