The most iconic on-screen romance of the ‘90s is heading to the stage of Perth’s Crown Theatre for a musical adaptation for the ages. Fire up those pottery wheels folks, yes, it’s Ghost: The Musical.
The Academy Award nominated classic starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze has been adapted for the stage by original screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin, along with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics and Glen Ballard, known for his writing on Michael Jackson’s ‘Man in the Mirror’ and Alanis Morissette’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’.
Ghost: The Musical promises frights and illusions on the stage without the need for studio trickery. Possessions and poltergeists and, of course, the pottery wheel that continues to inspire parodies and homages to this day.
The performance also features the unforgettable ‘Unchained Melody’, that so beautifully set the scene we all know and love.
It even spawned a Japanese remake, and made an appearance in a segment of Korean reality show, ‘Running Man’.
Let’s not forget Whoopi won an Oscar too.
Ghost: The Musical premiered in 2011 in Manchester and London’s West End. The highly popular perofmances soon spread to Broadway and beyond, entertaining millions across the world and earning three Tony awards.
Ghost: The Musical will be spinning clay at Burswood’s Crown Theatre, Saturday 21st May. Tickets available from ticketmaster.com.au
