When did you first become interested in make-up and skin care? For makeup it was the moment I saw it done professionally. The transformation blew my mind and the energy of the woman, her confidence and persona changed before my eyes and I said to myself in that moment I want to be a part of that. And as far as my interest in skin, that happened at a very young age. I wanted to know everything I could because I needed to find out why and cure my severe acne problem. Fortunately I did.

What’s the hot trend in make up for boys and girls right now? The hottest trend in cosmetics right now is BOLD statements of colour, bright colours on the lips or eyes. For my fellow men out there, the trend is really about taking care of the skin. Finally, I think we get that it’s important to wash, exfoliate, moisturize and use SPF! Men are beginning to understand that we too need knowledge and good products to take care of our skin so we can put our best face forward.

You’ve worked on a lot of morning TV shows, what  is the best trick for making people look great early in the morning? When I’m preparing my clients for morning television it’s usually some ungodly hour of the morning and she’s still trying to wake up. The last thing I want to do is start rubbing things on her face. So what I like to do first is use a hydrating mask and let her relax into waking up. Prepping the skin is really important before starting makeup because it stimulates the skin and gets the juices flowing. Then the process continues with conceal, even and set. After the face is beat her canvas is ready for colour!

image003Ebony & Ivory is celebrating their 10th anniversary, how did you meet Joan DellaValle and how long have you been working together?

Joan and her staff is what makes Ebony & Ivory so special. Joan and I met at a presentation in Jamaica earlier this year where I was speaking about Black Opal’s new direction and new products for the brand. She was a ray of light and we’ve been working together ever since.

If you could only pack three products with you, what would make the cut? Foundation, mascara, lip gloss and hope whoever I’m working on will be understanding that I’m a bit unprepared… LOL!
