Darren Salter, senior coroner for Oxfordshire, said a post-mortem found that the superstar died of “dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.”

Dilated cardiomyopathy is a condition in which the heart’s ability to pump blood is limited. Myocarditis is inflammation of the heart muscle.

Because the singer died of natural causes no inquest will be held into his death. The coroner asked that the singer’s family be given privacy.

George Michael passed away on Christmas Day, he was 53 years old. He was found at his home in Goring on Thames by his partner Fadi Fawaz.

Police said the singer’s death was unexplained but not suspicious. An initial post-mortem did not shed any light on the cause of the singers death and investigators have waited weeks for toxicology tests to be conducted.

Michael’s former Wham! band mate Andrew Ridgely recently spoke about how difficult it has been for the singers family, who have not been able to hold a funeral until after the investigation into his death was completed.

Ridgely recently appeared alongside backing singers Pepsi and Shirlie at the Brit Awards to pay tribute to their lost band mate.
