Cher Ruled Out For Mardi Gras

Chaz Bono -001Chaz Bono has quashed rumours that his famous mother might appear at the Mardi Gras parade.

Speaking to AAP the trans* advocate said that Cher was too busy preparing for the launch of her US tour to make a whirlwind trip to Australia.

“She’s getting ready to go on tour in March,” Bono said. “She’s in rehearsals and working hard.”

Rumours began circulating last week that a second high profile star would appearing at the Mardi Gras party alongside previously announced guest Tina Arena.

Alongside Cher – Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Dolly Parton and Lady Gaga were touted ads potential guests. Speculation focused on Cher after Mardi Gras released a video of multiple Cher impersonators and the singer sent a tweet to Mardi Gras.

Chaz Bono is an official guest of Mardi Gras and will be speaking on Wednesday evening alongside Australian army officer Lieutenant Colonel Cate McGregor.
