Carlotta Movie to Air in June

carlottaThe ABC’s biopic on Sydney’s famous transgender performer Carlotta is set to air in mid June.

Perth actress Jessica Marais plays the lead role. Marais became a household name for her role in ‘Packed to the Rafters’ and has gone in to appear in the US show ‘Magic City’.

Also in the cast for the film is Caroline O’Connor, Paul Capsis and Alex Dimitriades.

The film traces Carlotta’s journey from Balmain school boy to becoming one of Australia’s most famous show girls and a ground breaking leader for transgender people in Australia. Later Carlotta gave up her show business career for love, settling down in the suburbs.

Carlotta will air at 8:30pm on Thursday June 19 on ABC1.
