Call for Queer Families to Join the Pride Parade

DSC_0475Families with Pride are looking for people to join their float in the Pride Parade on November 2.

The idea for a families with Pride presence grew out of the ‘Playgroup with Pride’ that meets at Brockman House.

Joey Cookman-McAuley who takes her daughter to the groups regular meetings explains that the group thought it would be great to get involved in the parade and show everyone exampkles of queer families.

“We thought it would be an awesome idea to get families to march in the new daytime parade,” said Cookman-McAuley, “We’re after Mums and Dads, single parents, allies, anyone really who want to join in.”

It won’t be Cookman-McAuley’s first time marching in the parade, but it will be a first for her daughter who was born earlier this year.

“Marching in the Pride parade is exciting and exhilarating,” Cookman-McAuley said, “It’s the kind of events that’s kids would love.”

For people who’d like to be involved the group has an event page on Facebook or people can contact Joey at joeyfaye@gmail.com
