A US network has filmed a tele-movie that documents what went on behind the scenes during the filming of ’90s TV show Melrose Place.
The nighttime soap opera with it’s outrageous story lines was compulsory viewing on Tuesday nights at the height of it’s success.
The Beverly Hills 92010 spin-off ran seven seasons – although many of tuned out around Season 5. The show also spawned it’s own offspring, the short lived series ‘Models Inc’.
Now, not every character is in the new promotional photo but can you guess who is Heather Locklear (Amanda), Andrew Shue (Billy), Grant Show (Jake), Daphne Zuniga (Jo), Laura Leighton (Sydney), Thomas Calabro (Michael), Doug Savant (Matt), Courtney Thorne-Smith (Alison), Kimberly (Marica Cross) and Josie Bissett (Jane). To make it confusing the characters who were dumped after the first season are in their too, so add Amy Locane (Sandy), Vanessa A. Williams (Rhonda). Â Scroll down for the answers.
Where are they now?
Heather Locklear
‘Melrose Place’ really picked up when Heather Locklear joined the cast as super-bitch Amanda. The TV star was already well known for her roles in ‘Dynasty’ and ‘T J Hooker’. After ‘Melrose Place’ ended Locklear joined the cast of comedy ‘Spin City’ and made guest appearances on ‘Scrubs’, ‘Two and Half Men’, ‘Boston Legal’ and ‘Ally McBeal’. In 2004 Heather stared alongside Blair Underwood in the TV series ‘LAX’ but it was cancelled after one season. More recently she joined the cast of ‘Franklin and Bash’ for a year. Heather also returned to the resurrected series of ‘Melrose Place’.
Andrew Shue
Aside from ‘Melrose Place’ Andrew Shue hasn’t done a lot of acting. He appeared in the film ‘The Rainmaker’ and appeared alongside his sister actress Elizabeth Shue in the 2007 film ‘Gracie’.
Shue founded an organisation called ‘Do Something’ and he sits on it’s board of directors. He helped created the social networking site CafeMom, and his company now has a stable of blogs and websites including Baby Name Wizard, MamaLatinas and The Stir.
Daphne Zuniga
Daphne Zuniga was well known to audiences when she joined ‘Melrose Place’. The actress has starred alongside John Cusack in the teen comedy ‘The Sure Thing’ and had a leading role in the Mel Brook’s comedy ‘Spaceballs’. TV audiences recognised her from her role as Michael J Fox’s first girlfriend on ‘Family Ties’. Zuniga also stared in a TV movie ‘Stone Pillows’ opposite LucileBall. It was the final role for the TV legend. After ‘Melrose Place’ Zuniga has done a bunch of guest roles in TV series and for four years she played the role of Victoria Davis in ‘One Tree Hill’.
Maria Cross
When Marcia Cross finished up on ‘Melrose Place’ you wouldn;t have thought there would have been a role to top crazy Kimberly. The actress found an even bigger role though when she joined the cast of ‘Desperate Housewives’ as Bree Ven De Camp – a role that kept her bust for 8 years. Alongside that she’s also had guest spots on ‘Seinfeld’, ‘Ned and Stacey’, ‘Profiler’ and ‘Touched by an Angel’. Cross has had a few years off since ‘Housewives’ wrapped but this she made a guest appearance on ‘Law and Order SVU’.
Josie Bissett
Josie Bissett had a significant career in TV before Melrose Place, she had a 1o episode role on Neil Patrick Harris’ show ‘Doogie Howser’ and also spent some time on  the sitcom ‘The Hogan Show’. In 1996 Bissett suffered a mis-carriage and took a year off ‘Melrose Place’. Her real life husband actor Rob Estes joined the cast of Melrose Place in 1996 playing Kyle McBride. Estes and Bissett went on to have two children but divorced in 2006. Since ‘Melrose Place’ the actress has had few roles mainly in tele-movies.
Grant Show
The resident hunk of ‘Melrose Place’ has struggled to find a big role since Jake Hanson disapeared from our screens. Show has made a stack of guest appearances in shows like ‘Dirt’, ‘Six Feet Under’, ‘Private Practice’ and ‘Big Love’. He’s scored a leading role in the short lived TV series ‘Swingtown’. Most recently Show’s been a cast member on the series’ Devious Maids’.
Thomas Calabro
Thomas Calabro was the only cast member to stay all the way through the series run. Since the show finished he’s had recurring roles on ‘Nip / Tuck’, ‘Without a Trace’ and ‘Touched by an Angel’. Queer audiences might recognise Calabro from his appearance on ‘Glee’ where he played Puck’s Dad.
Doug Savant
Doug Savant’s character Matt went through so much on ‘Melrose’, lost lovers, framed for murder and he was constantly sexually harassed, then left to run an AIDS clinic in San Francisco before being killed offscreen by a car crash a year later. Doug Savant went on to star as Tom Scavo in ‘Desperate Housewives’. Savant married ‘Melrose Place’ alumni Laura Leighton in 1998. The couple have had two children and also raised two kids from Savant’s previous marriage.
Laura Leighton
Laura Leighton aka Mrs Savant, was originally only contracted to play Sydney Andrews for two episodes, but she on the show for five years. After the show she filmed guest spots on ‘Law and Order SVU’, ‘Tru Calling’ and ‘CSI Miami’. She also played a different character on ‘Beverly Hills 90210′. Since 2010 Leighton has starred on the series’ Pretty Little Liars’Â Â
Courtney Thorne-Smith
Since leaving ‘Melrose Place’ Courtney Thorne-Smith has constantly been on our TV screens. She jumped right into a role on Ally McBeal for five years and then went on to star in ‘According to Jim’ for wight years, plus she had a recurring role on ‘Two and Half Men’. In  her spare time Thorne-Smith has been an advocate for preventing HIV through her work with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.      Â
