Photographer John Bortolin has spent two years photographing male models around the Byron Bay area.
The result of his work is an enormous coffee table book titled ‘Manscapes’.
“Two years ago when I first began this journey, I could never have imagined how far it would take me, both creatively, and personally.” Bortolin said.
Taking inspiration from the areas lush semi-tropical hills, hidden creeks and blue and white coast of the area Bortolin has created some engaging images of some very handsome men. Altogether in the collection he captures 25 different men, many who had never been photographed before.
“What they all had in common was a quiet knowledge of the splendor of their bodies, and a sense of pride in the hard work it takes to build and sculpt a masculine frame. There is magic in the shyness of a strong man. I didn’t want to photograph egos. I wanted to capture the beauty of their fragility.” Bortolin said.
