Almost 400 same sex couples have wed since Australia’s laws changed just one month ago, including 45 weddings in Western Australia.
More than 370 marriages involving same sex couples have been registered across Australia. New South Wales leads the count with 142 marriages recorded.
In Western Australia there were 687 weddings in the last month and 45 of them involving same sex couples, representing 6 per cent of the total number of nuptials.
In Victoria 88 marriages have been registered, 61 have been registered in Queensland, 25 in South Australia and 10 in Tasmania.
While some same-sex couples haven’t wasted any time tying the knot, others are taking their time and planning weddings to take place in the months ahead.
