ADF Chief Proud Of Gays

The head of the Australian Defence Forces, Lieutenant General David Morrison said he was proud of gay and lesbian defence personnel last month. In a speech at the Sydney Institute, the ADF chief praised the efforts of same-sex attracted people who serve to protect the country. ‘Twenty-five, thirty years ago the reaction to people of a different sexual orientation would have been seen as almost insurmountable,’ Lieutenant General Morrison said. ‘Yet now, of course it isn’t an issue and nor should it be. And we have many very proud gay and lesbian soldiers, airmen, airwomen, sailors serving in our ADF.’
