Adelaide: Anti-gay flyer referred to police

Curtin Rainbow Flag

A pamphlet that criticises a South Australian council for their decision to permanently fly a rainbow flag has been referred to police for it’s offensive and discriminatory content.

Last week the Marion city council announced that it would fly the LGBTIQ rainbow flag above its offices alongside the South Australian flag, indigenous flag, local council flag and Australian flag.

Following the decision a pamphlet has been delivered to some households and distributed at the local shopping centre. The contents of the pamphlet have been described as offensive.

Greens MP Tammy Franks has condemned the content of the pamphlet.

“The Greens condemn this abhorrent gay hate propaganda in the strongest possible terms,” Ms Franks said. “The decision by Marion Council to fly the rainbow flag should be celebrated, so it is disappointing to hear that a group of extremists is trying to undo this good work.”
