The NSW State Government has launched a three year plan aiming at reducing the HIV infection rate by a quarter by 2009. As part of the plan, $300,000 in funding is dedicated to education projects based in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Additional funding goes to the AIDS Council of NSW to increase prevention messages, research projects into factors influencing patterns of HIV Infection and working with general practitioners to improve testing.
