Perth to light up in red to commemorate World AIDS Day 2019

World AIDS Day is marked around the world on December 1st, and this year embraces the theme of ‘Communities Make a Difference.’

Since 1988, the day has been held to remember those who we have lost of AIDS-related illness, and support those in our lives who are living with HIV.

This year Perth City will once again light up in red, with monuments around town changing colour to commemorate the day.

Crown Perth, Optus Stadium, Matagarup Bridge, Yagan Square, Council House, St Mary’s Cathedral, The Bell Tower, Elizabeth Quay, The Old Mill, Perth Concert Hall, Regal Theatre, Trafalgar Bridge and The Court will all be shining in red.

Tyler Morgan, the Health Promotion and Education Officer at the WA AIDS Council, joined RTRFM’s All Things Queer team for a chat earlier this week about how WAAC and the wider community will be marking the day this year.
