'Grace and Frankie' announces seventh and final season

Netflix have renewed their original favourite Grace and Frankie for a seventh season, and announced it will be the show’s last.

The Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda comedy-drama has aired five seasons so far, and will be back for its sixth in early 2020.

“It’s thrilling and somehow fitting that our show about the challenges, as well as the beauty and dignity of ageing, will be the oldest show on Netflix,” said creators Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris.

Tomlin and Fonda said they are both delighted and heartbroken that the show is preparing for its final run.

“We’re so grateful that our show has been able to deal with issues that have really connected to our grand generation… and amazingly their kids as well,” the pair said.

“We’ll miss these two old gals… as much as many of their fans will, but we’ll still be around. We’ve outlasted so many things – just hope we don’t outlast the planet.”

Grace and Frankie is available on Netflix.
