Equality Australia to host online meeting on religious discrimination bill


LGBTIQ+ advocacy group Equality Australia are hosting an online community meeting to discuss the government’s proposed religious discrimination draft bill later this week.

The organisation are inviting LGBTIQ+ communities, allies and supporters to take part in an online discussion on the recently released draft, with human rights lawyer and Equality Australia CEO Anna Brown.

The session will be an opportunity for Brown to outline what Equality Australia believe the draft means for LGBTIQ+ Australians, and answer any questions participants have about the proposed legislation.

The draft bill has been widely criticised by federal MPs and LGBTIQ+ advocates around the country including just.equal, PFLAG, The Australian Greens, and Labor frontbencher Tanya Plibersek, as well as religious groups Equal Voices and Uniting Network.

Equality Australia will be hosting the discussion on Zoom and Facebook Live this Friday 6th September, from 11am WST. For more details head to Facebook.
