The Politician follows Payton Hobart (Ben Platt) – a wealthy young man who is on a mission to become the next President of the United States of America.

“To get elected Student Body President, secure a spot at Harvard, and stay on his singular path to success, Payton will have to outsmart his ruthless classmates without sacrificing his own morality and carefully crafted image,” the show’s synopsis teases.

“Full of dark comedy and sly satire, The Politician offers a rare glimpse into just what it takes to make a politician.”

The Netflix comedy also stars Murphy mainstay Jessica Lange, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bob Balaban, Zoey Deutch, Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Germaine – as well as Transparent star Judith Light and the divine Miss M herself, Bette Midler.

Murphy has revealed that he’s planned five seasons of the show, each oriented around a different election race with Howard in the running. Netflix has already signed up for two seasons, with the debut set to hit the streaming service on September 27th.
