RTRFM asks people to "be different" and donate during Radiothon

Local community radio RTRFM 92.1 is launching its Radiothon festivities on Friday with myriad live performances and parties.

Each August the volunteer lead station asks listeners to become subscribers to the station, over 300 people volunteer at the station that delivers mountains of local Western Australian music and community focussed current affairs and arts content.

To kick off Radiothon 2019: Be Different RTRFM will party from 6am – 10am at The Bird Mess Hall for a early morning dance party to get your day rolling and the Radiothon vibe going.

The early morning party will see Aslan, Girlname and Wil Bixler take to the decks to dance in the daylight tand kick off the station’s most important time of the year. Lovers of the station are invited to drop by for the dawn disco and grab a Bloody Mary or a coffees from The Bird , or indulge in a toasted sandwich from the team at Lil Toast Face.

The 10 day fundraising event asks people to sign up as subscribers to the station and in turn allow the RTRFM airwaves to keep championing local causes, people and music. The station is also home to weekly LGBTIQ+ focussed program All Things Queer. 

On Saturday night the fun will continue with the annual Radiothon Party for 2019 which will see heap of local bands and performers across four venues in Northbridge.

At the State Theatre Centre Courtyard catch the sounds of Post Depression Make Out Session, Peter Bibby’s Dog Act, Web Rumors, Collab featuring Beckon and Kruger James and Grievous Bodily Calm.

Across the road at The Bird get down early from 5pm for the Woodstock Rock team on the decks as they celebrate 50 years since Woodstock, then stick around to party with tunes from Joan and The Giants, Queency, The Love Endevour and Material World Orchestra.

Next door at Ezra Pound head down the laneway to catch DJ sets from Bruna (pictured), Bexx, Ernst and Young and the return of the legendary Craig Hollywood, plus a live set from Kissinger Kruz.

Then before your night is up head up towards Nevermind Smallclub for a Full Frequency Party to end them all. With the full crew on board party with us well into the morning as Micah and Philly, Dart, Captain Oshi, Allstate and Rok Riley go deep into classics and new tunes to celebrate all that is wonderful about Full Frequency and RTRFM.

Subscribers to the station get into the parties for free, so head over to the RTRFM and sign up before you head out to the celebrations.
