South African singer Nakhane has explained how his amazing tune New Brighton was created, from the initial songwriting, to why it wasn’t included on the original release of his album, and how he came to collaborate with ANOHNI on the track.
The musician outlined every stage of the amazing song’s creation on the latest edition of the podcast Song Exploder. The podcast sees musicians explaining how they made a specific track, sharing early demos, and behind the scenes stories of each tracks creation.
Nakane shares that he wrote the track all the way back in 2013 on New Year’s Eve, and the first demo of the song was very experimental with massive soundscapes, the sound of a plate dropping on the floor, but right in its first incarnation that very catchy guitar line was present.
Listen to the podcast below to find out how the song moved from its initial ideas to the glorious track that appears on the special edition of Nakane’s You Will Not Die album.
